India has successfully completed user trials of its indigenously developed Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ERASR), significantly boosting the Navy's underwater warfare capabilities.

The trials, conducted aboard INS Kavaratti between June 23 and July 7, 2025, mark a major step towards defence self-reliance.

Key Highlights:

• The ERASR underwent 17 successful test firings from INS Kavaratti, validating performance across various ranges and conditions.
• Developed by DRDO labs—ARDE, HEMRL, and NSTL—the system features a twin-motor design and an electronic time fuze for precise underwater targeting.
• The rocket is fully indigenous, manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Ltd (Hyderabad) and Solar Defence & Aerospace Ltd (Nagpur).
• Trials confirmed the rocket’s accuracy, range effectiveness, and reliable warhead detonation capability.
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised ERASR as a significant boost to the Indian Navy’s strike power in anti-submarine warfare.
