Adani Power Ltd (APL) has successfully acquired Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd (VIPL), a 600 MW coal-based power plant located in Butibori, Nagpur, for Rs. 4,000 crore.

The acquisition was completed on July 7, 2025, following approval by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

Key Highlights:

• The Rs.4,000 crore acquisition involves a 2×300 MW thermal power plant previously owned by Reliance Power.
• The deal boosts Adani Power’s operational capacity to 18,150 MW, further cementing its status as India’s largest private thermal power producer.
• The acquisition was carried out under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) and was approved by the NCLT Mumbai on June 18, 2025.
• Adani Power plans to scale up capacity to 30,670 MW by 2029–30 through upcoming ultra-supercritical and greenfield projects in multiple states.
• The company views this acquisition as part of a broader strategy to revive stressed assets and support India’s goal of achieving reliable electricity access for all.
