In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment and reassignment of 18 senior IAS officers to Secretary and equivalent-level positions across various ministries and departments. This major reshuffle aims to enhance administrative efficiency and streamline governance mechanisms across sectors

Key Appointments:

• Arvind Shrivastava has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. He was previously serving as Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. ?
• Vumlunmang Vualnam has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. He was previously serving as Civil Aviation Secretary. 
• Anuradha Thakur has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and is set to take over as Secretary of the department on June 30, 2025, following Ajay Seth's superannuation. 
• Rajesh Aggarwal, a 1994-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the next Commerce Secretary, nearly six months in advance to the incumbent Sunil Barthwal superannuating on September 30. ?
• Santosh Kumar Sarangi, a 1994-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. ?
• Samir Kumar Sinha, who was serving as Director General (Acquisitions) in the Ministry of Defence, has been appointed as Secretary, Civil Aviation. ?
• Hari Ranjan Rao, a senior IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Sports Secretary. He will assume his office upon the retirement of the current Sports Secretary, Sujata Chatruvedi, on June 30, 2025. ?
• Ashish Srivastava has been appointed as Secretary of the Inter-State Council Secretariat under the Ministry of Home Affairs. ?
• Rajit Punhani has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. He will assume the post after the incumbent, Atul Kumar Tiwari, retires on June 30, 2025. ?
• Pallavi Jain Govil has been appointed as Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs. She is currently the Director General of Hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. ?
• Meeta R. Lochan has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. ?
• K Moses Chalai has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance. ?
• Manoj Govil has been appointed as Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat. ?
• Vandana Gurnani has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment. ?
• Nikunja Bihari Dhal has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. ?
• Rakesh Kumar Verma will take on the role of Director General, India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (the rank and pay of Secretary).
