The "Women and Men in India 2024: Selected Indicators and Data" report, released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), provides a comprehensive overview of India's gender landscape across various sectors. 

Key Findings:

Education: The Gender Parity Index (GPI) for enrollments at the primary and higher secondary levels has shown improvement, indicating increased enrollment of girls in these educational stages. 

Economic Participation: The Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) for women aged 15 and above rose significantly from 49.8% in 2017-18 to 60.1% in 2023-24, reflecting enhanced female engagement in the workforce. 

Financial Inclusion: Women own 39.2% of all bank accounts in India, with a higher proportion in rural areas at 42.2%. 

Female participation in DEMAT accounts has increased, with the number of women account holders rising from 6.67 million in 2021 to 27.71 million in 2024. 

Entrepreneurship: There has been a rising percentage of female-headed proprietary establishments across manufacturing, trade, and other services sectors over the years 2021-22 to 2023-24, indicating growing female entrepreneurship. 

Political Participation: The gender gap in voting has narrowed, with female voter turnout surpassing male turnout in 2024, reflecting women's increasing influence in the political sphere. 

This report underscores significant progress in gender equality across various domains in India, highlighting both advancements and areas requiring continued attention.
