Sumit Antil won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F64 class at Paris 2024 and became the first Indian male para-athlete to defend his title in the Paralympics.
The 26-year-old Indian para-athlete achieved the feat with a new Paralympic record of 70.59m at the Stade de France.
Incredibly, Sumit got the better of the previous Paralympic record, set by him to win the gold medal at Tokyo 2020, thrice on Monday(02 September 2024).
Sumit Antil began with a new Paralympic record of 69.11m in his first attempt, which eclipsed his own previous record of 68.55m. It comfortably placed him at the top of the standings.
