The six phases of trade union movement in India are as follows: A. Pre-1918 Phase B. 1918-1924 Phase C. 1925-1934 Phase D. 1935-1938 Phase E. 1939-1946 Phase F. 1947 and Since. Trade unionism is a world-wide movement. The evolution and growth of trade unionism has been sine qua non with growth in industrialisation. Accordingly, the evolution of trade unionism in India is traced back towards the latter half of the nineteenth century. The origin and development of trade union movement in India may well be studied under distinct phases with their distinguishing features from others.

Question is a question. As i generally say that while attempting question look for the best option out of the given option. Here in the given question '4' is not the option. Further, as far as phases of growth of trade union in India is concerned, it is divided into 6 phases by academicians as explained in the answer. However, few divides it into 4 phases but they don't cover the post 1947 development and take post 1934 period upto 1947 as one phase only.

Isn't the phases of TRADE UNIONISM SUBJECTIVE? IS THIS UNIVERSAL TO ASSUME YHAYTHERE WERE SIX PHASES ONLY. What if someone divides it into 4 phases 1. Upto WW1 2. Between two WW. 3. AFTER WW2 AND BEFORE INDEPENDENCE. 4 POST INDEPENDENCE. I thjnk the framing of question is wrong. Please correct me if iam wrong. THANKING YOU.
