What type of work, makes persons engaged, to be covered by the definition of "workman", as per the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947

Skilled or unskilled manual work

Workman Section 2(s)

It means any person employed in any industry to do any manual, unskilled, skilled, technical, operational, clerical or supervisory work for reward.
It also includes person who is dismissed, discharged retrenched in connection with dispute,
Apprentice is included in definition of workman.

It does not include:

1. Armed forces

2. Police or employees of prison

3. Manager or administrator

4. Person employed in supervisory capacity drawing more than Rs. 10,000 per month.

5.Contract of employment may be express • Part time employee is also worker.

6.Teacher is not workman.

7.A temple priest is not a workman.
