As per which professor the distinction between mediation and conciliation is hair - splitting?
Prof. Foxwell
Prof. Pigou
Prof. Davey
All of the above
Conciliation and mediation are considered as equivalent terms involving third party intervention for resolving th conflicts or for promoting voluntary settlement of disputes. Prof. H. W. Davey, the author of 'contemporary collective bargaining point out that the distinction between mediation' and 'conciliation is almost hair-splitting. In practice, conciliation shades into mediation. The difference between them is essentially of degree rather than of land. It seems that 'mediation is a wider term than conciliation. Conciliation is limited to encouraging the parties t discuss the differences between the parties and it helps the parties to develop the parties and it helps the parties to develop their own proposed solutions. While mediation implies a stronger form of intervention and a mediator can suggest certain proposals to the parties to settle the conflicts.
