Provisions under Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) are-
1.The PMMVY allows women who undergo miscarriages or stillbirths to collect the remaining benefits whenever they have their next pregnancy.
2.Rs 6000 in two instalments.
Only 1
Only 2
Both 1 and 2
Neither 1 nor 2
Only statement 1st is correct.
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is the full form of PMMVY. The meaning of these words loosely translate to the Prime Minister’s scheme for mother’s worship. The scheme was launched in the year 2017 to provide monetary compensation to pregnant women who have lost their job owing to the pregnancy. This scheme also aims to improve the nutrition quotient for pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Beneficiaries of the PMMVY Scheme:
All Pregnant Women (PW) and Lactating Mothers (LM), except those employed by the State Government, Central Government, or Public Sector Undertakings, and those already receiving similar benefits under another applicable law.
Pregnant and lactating Anganwadi Workers (AWW), Anganwadi Helpers (AWH), and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA).
Benefits Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana ( PMMVY )
Cash Incentives: Eligible beneficiaries receive cash incentives in three instalments
First Instalment: Rs 1,000 for early pregnancy registration.
Second Instalment: Rs 2,000 after six months of pregnancy and completion of at least one antenatal check-up.
Third Instalment: Rs 2,000 after childbirth registration and completion of the first cycle of vaccinations.
Additional Cash Incentive: Beneficiaries also receive an additional Rs 1,000 under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) for institutional delivery, making the total maternity benefit Rs 6,000 under the PMMVY and JSY schemes.
Case of Miscarriage/Still Birth
(i) A beneficiary is eligible to receive benefits under the scheme only once. In case of miscarriage/still birth, the beneficiary would be eligible to claim the remaining instalment(s) in event of any future pregnancy. Thus, after receiving the 1% instalment, if the beneficiary has a miscarriage, she would only be eligible for receiving 2" and 3 instalment in event of future pregnancy subject to fulfilment of eligibility criterion and conditionalities of the scheme. Similarly, if the beneficiary has a miscarriage or still birth after receiving 1 and 2" instalments, she would only be eligible for receiving 3rd instalment in event of future pregnancy subject to fulfilment of eligibility criterion and conditionalities of the scheme.
Hence option 1st is correct.
