Normally when basis are not mentioned in questions, the errors are classified in 4 broad categories on the basis of as & when they occur on various stages (recording, posting etc) of accounting process. there are two more point of views of classification errors effecting trail balance & errors not effecting trial balance errors of principle & clerical errors
