Explanation:

 At the Nagpur session in 1929, under the presidency of J.L. Nehru, there was a split in the organization and the communists captured the leadership. The AITUC was divided into two groups: -

1. The Reformers called Geneva Amsterdam Group, which wamted affiliation with the International Federation of Trade Unions.
2. The Revolutionary or Moscovite Group which wanted affiliation with the Red Labour Union (RITU).

AITUC was affiliated to pan-pacific secretariate and to the Third International. In protest N.M. Joshi withdrew and formed All India Trade Union Federation with V.V. Giri as its firsst president.
