Founders and family offices of major IT services companies including HCLTech, Wipro and Infosys found prominent mentions in EdelGive Hurun India’s Philanthropy List for 2023.

• HCLTech founder Shiv Nadar retained the country’s most generous title for the third time in five years, having donated Rs 2,042 crore.
• This would be a whopping Rs 5.6 crore donated per day in the financial year 2023. Nadar was followed by Wipro’s Azim Premji and family who donated Rs 1,774 crore and Mukesh Ambani and family of Reliance Industries who donated Rs 376 crore.
• According to the report, Hurun India found 119 philanthropists who donated more than Rs 5 crores in the financial year 2023, up by 11 from last year.
• Cummulative amount donated by these  philanthropists remained Rs. 8,445 Crore.
• There were 25 new entrants who debuted on the list, the ‘most generous’ among them were Infosys co-founder K Dinesh who donated Rs 47 crore.
