    Let two number are x and y(x>y)

    L.C.M of both number = 3x

    l.c.m ×h.c.f=x×y

    3x×h.c.f=x×y

    Y smallest number=3 ×h.c.f

    ATQ,

    y-h.c.f=12

    3 ×h.c.f-h.c.f=12

    H.C.F=6

    so, smallest number y= H.C.F +12

    =6+12

    =18
