Ram is 4 times his son’s age today. Five years hence, Ram will be thrice his son’s age. Find their current ages?

Let Ram’s current age be R
Let his sons current age be S
The relation between their current ages R = 4S
5 years hence their ages will be
Ram’s age after 5 years = R + 5
Sons age after 5 years = S + 5

But R = 4S
4S+ 5=3S+15
S = 10 years
Hence substituting the value of S we get R = 40 years.
