The Madhya Pradesh government announced that 35% of government jobs in the state will now be reserved for women at the stage of direct recruitment.

• The General Administration Department issued a notification in this regard, following an announcement by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. 
• Madhya Pradesh was the first state to introduce 50 per cent reservation for women in elections to panchayats and urban bodies. It also has a 30 per cent reservation for women in the police.
• The state also offers concessional tariffs for registry of property in case it is in a woman’s name.
• The latest and most elaborate pro-women initiative has been the Ladli Behna Yojana, under which eligible women get Rs 1,250 per month. The total number of beneficiaries has now touched 13.2 million across the state.
