    Then x^2 – y^2 = 135

    Or (x+y)(x-y) = 135 …..(1)

    Also , x+y = 15 ….(2)

    Thus, dividing (1) by (2) , we get

    (x-y)=9 …(3)

    Solving (2) and (3) , we get

    x = 12 and y = 3
