Let ABC be an isosceles triangle.

Area = 1/2x ADxBC

( $\Delta$ is a right angeled triangle then by pythagoras theorm , we find AD)

$AD=\sqrt{(AB)^{2}-(\frac{BD}{2})^{2}}= \sqrt{(170)^{2}-(\frac{300}{2})^{2}}=\sqrt{(170)^{2}-(150)^{2}}$

$Area=\frac{1}2{}\times\sqrt{(170)^{2}-(150)^{2}}\times 300$

$Area=\150\times\sqrt{6400}$

= 12000 units
