x/2 + y/3 = 4
⇒ 3x + 2y = 24 …..(i)
2/x + 3/y = 1
2y + 3x = xy ……. (ii)
From equation (i) and (ii) we get
xy = 24 ………. (iii)
Now, multiply by y on both the sides in equation (i)
⇒ 3xy +2y² = 24y
y² -12y +36 =0
This can be written as (y − 6)² = 0
y = 6
Now put y=6 in equation (iii)
x= 4 Then
x + y = 4 + 6 = 10
