Which one of the following is a westflowing river?
Mahanadi
Godavari
Krishna
Narmada
Although the general direction of flow of the Peninsular Rivers is from west to east, because slope is towards west to east, a careful study reveals at least three main directions of flow: (i) The Mahanadi, the Godavari, the Krishna, the Cauvery and several smaller rivers draining south-east into the Bay of Bengal. ' (ii) The Narmada and the Tapi flowing west as well as several small streams originating from the Western Ghats flow westwards into the Arabian Sea. (iii) Tributaries of the Ganga and the Yamuna such as the Chambal, the Betwa, the Ken, the Son and the Damodar flow in the north-easterly direction
