Surat city has bagged the top spot in the Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2024 conducted by the Union Environment Ministry. The award, which comes with a cheaque of Rs 1.5 crore, was conferred to Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal and Mayor Daxesh Mawani.

It was awarded as the ‘National Clean Air City’ in the country by Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav in Jaipur.

Earlier, It had topped the list of the cleanest cities in the country last year, 

In Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2023, Surat was in 13th position, with Indore at the top.
