Did you know one of the oldest medicinal treatments was originated from India? Ayurveda is an eternal science, it is gift to world. It traces it's roots 5000 years back. Ayurveda is something which is not having any beginning nor end. Ayurveda is a combination of two Sanskrit words 'Ayu' means life and 'Veda' means knowledge – symbolizes 'The science of life'. According to Hindu beliefs there are four Veda namely Rig-veda, Yajur-veda , Sama-veda and Atharva-veda . This portray health as the result of food we eat, food plays as essential role for body. Ayurveda has been taught as legacies to students by their mentors since ages. The earliest written references are found in Charak-samhita, Sushruta-samhita and Ashtanga-hridayam. The Charaka-samhita itself is a collection of eight books. Sushruta are known to be the inventor of surgeries mainly cosmetic surgery, nobody could ever imagine cosmetic surgeries thousands of years back. It is not something we go to when we need and it is very practically accessible. Ayurveda is all about the food we eat , the colours we choose, how you arrange your house, how you arrange your furniture.
The basic foundation of Ayurveda is based on five elements Earth, water, fire, soil, air and ether combination of these five elements form each and every element of the universe.Ayurveda is different from all kind of medicines, patients are first analyzed for few days there habits, behavior, food, etc. You will amazed to know that just by checking some nerves an Ayurveda doctor can know what kind of disease a person is suffering from. Treating patients and making their life healthier is the only aim of Ayurveda. In India there are about 4.5 lakhs Ayurvedic doctors practicing in more than 15000 hospitals, but few like in Jaipur, Varanasi and Jamnagar are biggest of them. It is all about using natural resources like herbs, trees, plants, roots etc for curing. There are eight different components inAyurvedic medicine Kayachikitsa (internal medicine), Baala Chikitsa (treatment for children), Graha Chikitsa (psychiatry), Urdhyaanga Chikitsa, Shalyaroga Chikitsa (surgery), Damstra Chikitsa (toxicology), Jara Chikitsa (geriatric) and Vajjikaran Chikitsa (reproductive health). The World Health Organisation (WHO) recognized Ayurveda's relevance to the modern medical field within the context of India during the International Conference on Primary Health Care (also known as the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1978). Ayurveda is gaining world wide recognition, people now understand the importance of natural elements in one's life and hence it now a part of day to day activities of people. We as Indians should be proud of our ancestors and generations who had continued this legacy and didn't let it to disappear under the modern allopathy.
