Pulitzer prize was established in the year of 1917 by the effect of Joseph Pulitzer's will to honor some exceptional achievements in the field of journalism it is also considered as the Oscar of journalism. This award has grown into 21 separate categories that vary from literature, music composition, and journalism. Now this award is given by Columbia University. In 1904 Joseph Pulitizer drafted his will and made provision to reward this renowned award every year and 20 lakh dollars were given Columbia University to open a journalism school. Most of Pulitzer prize winners are Americans though there are few categories for foreigners. In twenty of each category, each winner receives a certificate and15,000 us dollars.This year three Kashmiri journalist won Pulitizer prize, Mukhtar Khan, Dar Yasin, and Channi Anand for the feature photography category all of them works for the associated press as a photographer. They got the prize for the photographs taken during the lockdown in Kashmir after the abrogation of article 370 in august 2019. They mainly clicked pictures of Kashmiri localities and army personnel. it's worth mentioning here that the award distribution ceremony was scheduled for April because of the Corona outbreak it got delayed.

The major controversy arose when Mr.Rahul Gandhi congratulated these photojournalists and the citation of the Pulitzer prize is "For striking images of life in the contested territory of Kashmir as India revoked its independence, executed through a communications blackout." Now the major concern is on the hand Pulitizer is questioning the integrity of Kashmir as they mentioned it as Contested territory whereas our constitution mentions that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of our nation. In past congress always believe that J&K is an integral part of the nation now the situation is paradoxical for them its high time for Sonia Ji to come forward and make things clear to save the image of her party.
