Why In The News?

=> Union minister of communications and development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia during his visit to Northeastern states made 2 major announcements-

1. North East Region Agri Commodity E-Connect (NERACE) app.
2. Northeast Region Vision 2047.

North East Region Agri Commodity E-Connect (NERACE) app:-

=> The NERACE app is intended to support agricultural and horticultural products of farmers of Northeast.

=> The app and web portal are expected to bring together 50,000 farmers and 5,000 buyers over the next five years.

=> NERACE will promote local specialities like Black Rice, Kiwi, Large Cardamom, and medicinal plants in domestic and international markets.

North East Region (NER) Vision 2047:-

=> First draft of the North East Region (NER) Vision 2047 for development of NE was presented.

The vision document outlines eight goals for the development of the Northeast region:

1. Establishing NE as South Asian power hub
2. Leveraging border areas as opportunities for international trade
3. Promoting NE as a green destination,
4. Creating an economic corridor
5. Make Northeast a centre for climate studies for the Indian Himalayan region
6. Developing medical and adventure tourism in NE,
7. Serving as a melting pot of youth and culture
8. Achieving a peace dividend.
