Core objectives:
“Mission Basundhara”
=> “Mission Basundhara” is a mission mode project initiated by Assam government for land reforms.
=> Focus will be on-
=> “Mission Basundhara” was formally launched on 2nd October 2021.
=> All such pending matters were resolved within May 10, 2022, which marked the first anniversary of the present government.
Services under Mission Basundhara 2.0:
=> Under Mission Basundhara 2.0, a total of seven services would be provided to the public in digital mode. These are --
Benefits:
=> It will provide land rights to indigenous people based on self-certification.
=> Shall enable achieving the goal of 100% digitization of Maps and total integration of maps, land records
=> A transitional mission for sustainable reforms, particularly by cutting away the role of middlemen and digitalisation of all land-related services.
Way forward:
=> Land settlement system should be foolproof and people friendly.
=> Government should identify the illegal and fraudulent occupants and take necessary legal action whereas rehabilitate the genuine landless who have been compelled to take shelter on government land and forest land due to flood and erosion.
