=> Bulk of semiconductor manufacturing and supply comes from few countries like The US, South Korea, Taiwan etc.

Semiconductor Plant in Assam:

=> Assam will have a Rs 25,000-crore semiconductor manufacturing plant, in what could be the single largest investment in private sector in the State.

=> State government has decided to allot 150 acres of the land in Jagiroad for the semiconductor unit for Re 1.

=> An agreement has been signed with the Tata group.

Employment opportunities and Women empowerment due to the Semiconductor plant:

=> With a capacity of producing 48 million chips per day, the Jagiroad unit will indubitably be a pivotal step in the industrial development of the State.

=> 1,800 youths from Assam, mostly women, are undergoing training at Tata facilities in and around Bengaluru, and they will occupy leadership positions once the semiconductor facility becomes operational in 2025.
