Explanation:

Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, which was formerly known as HPSSSB (Himachal Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Board) was established in the year 1998. The commission was dissolved, following the allegations of irregularities in appointments.

In order to correct the glaring anomalies, the state government announced that the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission would be reconstituted on the basis of the recommendations of the Sanan committee, which would submit its report within three months.

Further, in order to ensure that the functioning of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur, is transparent and above scrutiny, its entire staff will be replaced with new employees. The new staff thus recruited, too, will be posted there on a rotation basis and not permanently.

While underlining that the decision to dissolve the commission was taken as the integrity and credibility of the HPSSC was under question, the government has clarified that all those, who were rendered overage because of the delay in recruitment, would be granted age relaxation.
