‘Nari Ko Naman’ scheme pertains to which of the following:
?
Financial assistance for marriage of girls belonging to poor families
Creche facility for children of female NREGA workers
Concessional fare for women in state transport buses
None of the above
Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has launched the ‘Nari Ko Naman Scheme’, under which women travelling in state transport buses will be given a 50% discount on ticket prices.
Under the scheme, Himachal Pradesh government will spend Rs 60 crore annually to provide 50% discount on ticket prices to women in state. As per the state government’s estimate, 1.25 lakh women travel in HRTC buses every day. The government has claimed that this step would go a long way in making the women of the state self dependent.
It is pertinent to note here that the facility of concessional fare under ‘Nari Ko Naman Scheme’ would be available to local women only in state transport service buses traveling within the state boundary. The scheme would not be appliable to the buses travelling outside the state.
