Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve
It was established in 1978 and it was given the recognition of Tiger Reserve in 1994. Located on the border of Bihar-Nepal-Uttar Pradesh in the foothills of the Himalayas, the area of this National Park is 901 square kilometers. Which covers 17.4% of the geographical area of the entire West Champaran district. The total forest area covers about 901 sq km, out of which Valmiki Wildlife Sanctuary extends to 880.78 sq km. In the north, the protected areas are bordered by Nepal while the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh borders the wildlife sanctuary on the western side. The park is bounded on the north by the Royal Chitwan National Park of Nepal and on the west by the Gandak River of the Himalayan Mountains. Here tigers, sloth bears, wolves, deer, serows, cheetahs, pythons, peefols, chitals, sambar, nilgai, hyenas, Indian civets, wild cats, hog deer, wild dogs, one-horned rhinoceros and Indian buffaloes can be seen here.
