Himachal doctor to lead national anti-tuberculosis drive

Dr Ashok Kumar Bhardwaj, former faculty of Dr Radhakrishnan Medical College and Hospital, was elected chairman of the National Task Force on National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme held on July 7.
It is the highest post in the country in TB elimination drive under medical colleges. He became the chairman of the State Task Force on National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme for Himachal Pradesh in 2011 and was chairman, Zonal Task Force on National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (North Zone), since 2013.
Dr Bhardwaj bagged the “Best Public Health Worker’’ award for TB control on March 24 by the Union Health Minister.
Dr Bhardwaj was working as professor in community medicine at Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College and Hospital at Kumarhatti in Solan.
He had also served as professor at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.
