Explanation:

National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) is the restructured version of Swarnajayanti Grameen Swarojgaar Yojna (SGSY).

It is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Rural Development (GoI), for elimination of Rural Poverty.

It aims to reduce poverty by enabling the poor households by accessing gainful self employment and skilled wage employment opportunities resulting in a sustainable livelihoods.

Objectives of NRLM

•Universal social mobilization.

•Building strong gross root institutions for poverty alleviation.

•Universal financial inclusion, enabling the poor and the disadvantaged to reap benefits of all government schemes intended to serve them and to ensure that entitlements are reach the intended beneficiaries.

•Training/capacity building and skill building.

•Enhanced package of economic assistance for setting-up of micro enterprises and larger role for Self Help Groups (SHGs).
