Explanation:

Drought-Prone Area Programme comes under Ministry of Rural Development, overall objective of the programme is to mitigate the impact of droughts on crop production, livestock, humans, water resources and productivity of land ultimately leading to drought proofing of the target region.

Desert Development Programme also comes under Ministry of Rural Development and objective is to minimize the adverse effect of drought, to control desertification and rejuvenating the natural resource base of the identified Desert area.

The National Watershed Development Project for Rainfed Areas (NWDPRA)  comes under Ministry of Agriculture and  is based on twin concepts of integrated watershed management and sustainable farming systems.
