?India has solidified its position as the world's leading milk producer, with current production at 239 million metric tonnes (MMT).
Union Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, announced in the Lok Sabha on March 25, 2025, that the government aims to increase this figure to 300 MMT within the next five years. ?
Since the launch of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission in 2014, milk production has surged by 63.5%.
The government is optimistic about achieving an additional 15% growth over the next three years to meet the new target.
