2 and 3 only.
After a rare sighting of two Amur falcons roosting in Nagaland’s Doyang came to light, the Centre has decided on making Doyang lake an eco-tourism spot. Two falcons, Naga and Pangti along with a third, were tagged using satellite devices two years ago before they made two return trips to Doyang lake after transiting through Nagaland in their journey from Mongolia to South Africa. The world has recognized Pangti village in Nagaland as the world’s Amur Falcon capital, as more than one million birds can be seen in just 30 minutes. It is a very rare and exciting sight. According to environment ministry, Naga tribesmen until recently used to hunt thousands of Amur falcons for meat. But last year, after a vigorous campaign by wildlife activists, they pledged to protect the bird and since then, not a single bird has been hunted in the area. About Amur Falcons: In October, huge numbers of Amur falcons arrive in northeast India from Siberia en route to their final destination — Somalia, Kenya and South Africa. The birds are unusual in that they migrate a large distance over the sea and also continue their journey at night. Doyang River: Doyang river is one of the most important rivers in the district. It is the biggest and longest rivers which run near the state’s southern boundary. The Angami people in whose area it rises call it Dzu or Dzulu. It has got three main tributaries such as Tsui, Tullo and Tishi. In the valley along the Doyang river the modern system of cultivation like terrace is being carried out successfully, especially in two particular areas near Pangti village called “Pofu hayi” and “Tentsu hay”. Besides vegetables, and fruits such as banana, pineapple papaya etc.are abundantly and luxuriantly grown in those two areas.
