The Shiv Sena party of Maharashtra recently elected the Maharashtra Chief Minister as its new Chief. The decision was made during the National Executive Meeting of the party.

• The party is a right-wing Marathi regionalist. It was founded by Balasaheb Thackeray. Their main focus is to get preferential status to the Marathis in the state as compared to the increasing number of migrants.
• Under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray (son of Balsaheb Thackeray), the party became secular and adopted nationalism. It formed an alliance with Congress. The party is usually more inclined towards BJP.
