A boy has enough money to buy 20 exercise books. If each book cost 25 paise less, he could buy two more books and still have 70 paise left. How much money had he originally?

Explanation:

Cost of one book = x

Cost of 20 books = 20x

20x = (x - 0.25)22 + 0.70 (given)

20x = 22x - 5.50 + 0.70

2x = 4.8

x = 2.4

The money he had = 20 x 2.4 = Rs. 48
