The smell of hot sizzling food reaches us several meters away, but to get the smell from cold food one has to go close, because:
Our nose is more sensitive to hot than cold things.
As food becomes cold its smell causing ingredients to be lost.
On heating the rate of diffusion becomes faster.
At room temperature, the conservation of energy is greater for hotter particles.
Temperature is directly proportional to kinetic energy. When you have hot sizzling food, its particles of aroma have higher kinetic energy, so easily mixed up with air. But in the case of cold food, it doesn't happen due to lesser kinetic energy in it. Again there is another property of particles of matter, that in gaseous medium any particles get mixed easily compared to solid and liquid. The smell occurs when the particles of a substance mix with air which is inhaled by us. This mixing is called diffusion. When the food is hot it increases the rate of diffusion as at higher temperatures diffusion becomes faster. Thus, we get the smell of food at longer distances as well. Hence option (c) is the correct answer.
