Indian Contingent Flag-bearers announced for Tokyo Olympics Games

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced the names of the flag bearers for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games, beginning July 23, 2021.
The six-time world boxing champion MC Mary Kom, and men’s hockey team skipper, Manpreet Singh, have been named as flag-bearers for the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on July 23, 2021.
Meanwhile, World Championships silver medallist wrestler Bajrang Punia will be the flag-bearer at the closing ceremony on August 8, 2021.
This is for the first time that India will have two flag-bearers, one male and one female, at Olympics Games, to ensure “gender parity”.
Around 126 athletes are taking part in the Tokyo Olympics Games, comprising 56 percent male and 44 percent female athletes.
