India’s smartphone exports reached a record Rs.2 lakh crore in the fiscal year 2024–25, marking a 54% rise from the previous year. This surge made smartphones the country’s top export commodity, overtaking petroleum products and diamonds.

Key Drivers of Growth

• Apple led the charge, contributing Rs.1.5 lakh crore through India-made iPhones. Suppliers like Foxconn, Tata Electronics, and Pegatron ramped up production significantly to cater to global markets.
• Samsung also played a key role, contributing around 20% of total smartphone exports, thanks to its strong manufacturing base in India.
• The government's Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has been pivotal, attracting foreign investments and enhancing local manufacturing capabilities.
