Rajasthan state government has launched a crowd-funding portal for the purpose of treatment of rare diseases.

With this, Rajasthan has become the first state in the country to launch such a portal for treatment of rare diseases that cost lakhs of rupees annually. The state government’s initiative will make such treatment possible for the needy and those belonging to disadvantaged sections of society.

The web portal Rajsambal.rajasthan.gov.in debuted at the Rajasthan DigiFest-2022 in the city of Jaipur. The launch of the portal is in accordance with the National Policy for Rare Diseases, 2021.

According to Chairman of Rajasthan's technical panel on rare diseases, Ashok Gupta, in the national policy, there is list of rare diseases whose treatment is very expensive. For such diseases, the policy allows crowdfunding. In order to make such treatment accessible to the poor and the needy, Rajasthan has launched a portal for crowdfunding to support treatment of rare diseases, which is a first for any state in the country.
