UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy paid a two-day official visit to India from June 6–7, 2025, marking his first trip since assuming office. During the visit, he held high-level meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with Lammy on June 7 in New Delhi marked a significant step in strengthening India–UK bilateral relations. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The discussions focused on deepening cooperation in counter-terrorism, trade, critical technologies, and reviewing the progress of the Roadmap 2030 to align with evolving global priorities.

• Counter-terrorism collaboration: Lammy and Modi emphasized joint efforts to combat terrorism, praising the UK’s strong condemnation of the recent Pahalgam attack and committing to unified global action.
• Technology Security Initiative (TSI): A new initiative was launched to enhance collaboration on critical emerging technologies, including AI, telecoms, semiconductors, quantum computing, biotech, and critical minerals.
• Free Trade Agreement momentum: Both sides expressed optimism about concluding a mutually beneficial India–UK FTA. Lammy noted that UK PM Keir Starmer plans to visit India soon to sign it.
• India–UK Roadmap 2030 reviewed: External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Lammy reviewed progress on the bilateral Roadmap 2030, agreeing to update it in line with evolving priorities encompassing trade, defence, technology, and climate action.
• Strategic convergence across domains: The visit reflected deepening ties in defence, tech innovation, climate initiatives, and multilateral security, reinforcing the "living bridge" between the two democracies.
