To commemorate former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's centenary year celebrations, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled an 11-foot statue of Vajpayee at Kudiya Ghat, Lucknow on Wednesday ( 25 December 2024).

• The event was also attended by state BJP president Bhupendra Singh and deputy CM Brajesh Pathak.
• During the ceremony, the sculptor of the statue, Amarpal Singh, was also honoured.
• Dignitaries, local leaders, and attendees paid tribute to Vajpayee and participated in the ‘Atal Sankalp Pledge.' After the ceremony, the BJP Lucknow Mahanagar unit organised a traditional Tehri Bhoj.
• At the event, Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharakwal remarked that Dec 25 is observed as ‘Good Governance Day' in memory of Vajpayee and added that the day is also celebrated as Atal Day.
