On May 18, 2025, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh laid the foundation stone for a Rs. 42.4 crore Integrated Aqua Park in Kailashahar, Unakoti district, Tripura. The project, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), aims to boost fish production, enhance infrastructure, and promote sustainable aquaculture in the region.

Key Points:

1. Project Overview:
   The Integrated Aqua Park is being established with an investment of Rs.42.4 crore under PMMSY. It will serve as a comprehensive facility offering hatcheries, feed mills, cold storage, processing units, training centers, and marketing support, all under one roof.

2. Strategic Importance:
   The park is envisioned to act as a backbone for modernizing infrastructure for fish production, processing, and marketing in Tripura, benefiting various stakeholders across the value chain.

3. Regional Development:
   Tripura has received projects worth ?319 crore over the past decade under PMMSY and the Blue Revolution to support aquaculture expansion, infrastructure development, and fishers' welfare.

4. Event Highlights:
   The foundation stone laying ceremony also featured the inauguration of a Fish Festival in Agartala, showcasing Tripura's aquatic biodiversity and cultural heritage.

5. Government Commitment:
   Union Minister Singh emphasized the central government's dedication to making Tripura self-sufficient in fish production and transforming it into a fish-exporting state.

6. Support for Beneficiaries:
   During the event, certificates and sanction orders were distributed to various beneficiaries in the fisheries sector, including the disbursement of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to eligible fishers and fish farmers.
