India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan are lit up in red to raise awareness for Dyslexia
India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan, North and South Block, along with several other historical monuments and government buildings across the country were illuminated in red on Sunday evening( 27 October) to spread awareness on Dyslexia.
- Every year, October is celebrated as International Dyslexia Awareness Month, when high-impact events and advocacy drives are organized under the theme ‘Go Red’.
- The aim of such events is to remove the stigma associated with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, eradicate discrimination, and raise public awareness.
- Walk4Dyslexia was also organized from Vijay Chowk to India Gate. This walk symbolizes collective action for Act4Dyslexia, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities and support for individuals with learning disabilities.
What is Dyslexia ?
Dyslexia is a learning disorder that involves difficulty reading due to problems identifying speech sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words (decoding). Also called a reading disability, dyslexia is a result of individual differences in areas of the brain that process language.
