BCCI appoints Amol Muzumdar as the new India head coach

BCCI announced the appointment of Amol Muzumdar as the new India women’s team coach. Notably, the position has been vacant since December last year when Ramesh Pawar left the position.

  • Muzumdar is a reputed first-class player who has scored 11,167 domestic runs in 171 matches, but never got the chance to play for India.
  • Muzumdar represented Mumbai and won several Ranji titles. He also played for Assam and Andhra Pradesh.
  • Muzumdar, who is presently, commentating for the ICC World Cup 2023, has taken up several coaching roles in the past.
  • He was Rajasthan Royals’ batting coach and even took up an interim role for the South Africa national cricket team during their tour of India in 2013. The 48-year-old was the head coach of Mumbai till the 2022-23 season.
