The Ministry of Environment organised a dialogue on the Montreal Protocol at New Delhi on 13th September to highlight India’s success in ozone layer protection and advance climate action ahead of the 30th World Ozone Day, scheduled for September 16th, World Ozone Day celebrates global efforts to safeguard the ozone layer and acknowledges the progress made under the Montreal Protocol.

• The Montreal Protocol is an international treaty aimed at protecting the ozone layer by curbing the use of ozone-depleting substances.
• Environment Secretary Leena Nandan highlighted India’s success in adhering to the Montreal Protocol’s commitments, attributing this achievement to collaborative efforts across stakeholders.
• UNDP India Resident Representative Angela Lusigi praised India’s leadership in implementing the protocol and its progress in reducing Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
