Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: Nationwide Campaign to Empower Farmers with Modern Agricultural Practices
The Government of India is launching the 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,' a 15-day nationwide campaign from May 29 to June 12, 2025.
Spearheaded by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the initiative aims to educate 10 to 15 million farmers across 700 districts on modern agricultural technologies, climate-resilient seed varieties, and sustainable farming practices.
The campaign seeks to enhance crop productivity and boost farmer incomes by bridging the gap between agricultural research and field application.
Key Highlights:
- Campaign Duration and Reach: Scheduled from May 29 to June 12, 2025, the campaign targets 10 to 15 million farmers across 700 districts in India.
- Implementation Strategy: Approximately 2,000 teams comprising farm scientists, state officials, and progressive farmers will conduct three daily meetings at the district level, aiming to reach 1 to 1.2 million farmers each day.
- Educational Focus: The campaign will cover topics such as climate-resilient seed varieties, availability of fertilizers, monsoon forecasts, and the benefits of existing government programs.
- Special Initiatives: Mobile soil testing labs will accompany teams to provide on-the-spot soil assessments. Additionally, around 3,100 agricultural scientists have been trained as master trainers to educate farmers on innovative practices.
- Government Collaboration: The campaign is a joint effort between the central and state governments, with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan urging state agriculture ministers to lead the initiative in their respective states.
- Monitoring and Feedback: A dedicated national cell will monitor the campaign's effectiveness, and farmers will be encouraged to provide feedback on their experiences and lessons learned during the campaign.
