Correct AnswerExplanation:
Correct Option: (d) Explanation: All statements are correct Raja Ram Mohan Roy Ram Mohan’s idea of a Unitarian God was directed in eradicating idolatry and polytheism. He believed monotheism paved the way for a universal moral order based on reason While the government was engaged in pursuing a policy calculated to encourage orientalism alone, Ram Mohan believed in Occidentalism, thus pursuing a different course. In 1816–1817, Ram Mohan founded the fi rst English school in Calcutta fi nanced completely by Indians. Ram Mohan’s enlightened mind did not rest satis fi ed with what he could do for the promotion of education of boys alone, he also advocated the education of girls. For the propagation and defense of Hindu Unitarianism, Ram Mohan established the Vedanta College in 1825.
Ram Mohan, though appreciative of the British rule, was equally vocifer ous in condemning unjust measures. His protest of the Press Ordinance of 1823 and the Jury Act of 1827 demonstrates the point. Under Jury Act of 1827 act, both IndoBritons and Indians were authorised to sit on juries in criminal cases before the Supreme Courts, but a discrimination was made on the rights and privileges of the two communities. While Indo-Britons enjoyed full rights to sit on both grand and petty juries, as well the trials of both Christians and natives, the Indians were given limited rights, as they were allowed to sit on petty juries and in the trials of the natives. He founded the Atmiya Sabha in 1815, the Calcutta Unitarian Association in 1821 and the Brahmo Sabha, or the Congregation of the Absolute, in 1828. The Brahmo Samaj was founded to promote the vision of Hindu monotheism.
