Every year, on 1st of August, people across the globe observe World Lung Cancer Day.
It aims to promote awareness on lung cancer as a public health issue and to strengthen actions towards improving access to quality care, screening, early detection, treatment and palliative care.
Lung cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers worldwide, claiming more lives yearly than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. According to World Health Organization, it caused around 1.80 million deaths alone in 2020.
