Two years ago a man was six times as old as his son. In 18 years, he will be twice as old as

his son. What are their present ages of the man and his son?

32 and 7 years

34 and 9 years

32 and 13 years

34 and 7 years

Let the age of a man two years ago = 6x years

age of his son two years ago = x years

so, present age of man

(6x +2) years

According to the question

6x + 2 + 18 = 2 / x + 2 + 18 = 1

6x - 2x = 40 - 20

4x= 20

x = 5

SO present age of man = 6 x 5 + 2 = 32 years

Present age of son = 5 +2 = 7 years

Hence option 1 is the correct answer.
