The 27th December is the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness. 

• The day aims to increase awareness about the pandemic. This is done by exchanging information, sharing scientific knowledge and exchanging best practices internationally.  
• The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on 7 December  2020. The resolution declares 27 December as International Epidemic Preparedness Day.  
• The WHO works long-term with Member States to improve operational readiness, and handle the initial impact of emergencies and subsequent recovery. WHO’s work supports countries in meeting their commitments under the International Health Regulations to build capacity for all kinds of public health events. and lessons learned.
